DAY 02:

Taipei city tour ( Taipei )

Explore the top sights and attractions in tantalizing Taipei with this fascinating half-day tour of the Taiwanese capital. Visit the imposing Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, the National Palace Museum, the Presidential Office Building, and the Martyrs' Shrine as you immerse yourself in the heart of this dynamic metropolis.
The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is home to several classical Chinese buildings, including the memorial itself as well as the National Concert Hall and National Theatre. The architecture of Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall is inspired by Beijing’s Temple of Heaven. There are also beautifully landscaped gardens and swathes of flower beds. Another highlight of this site is the hourly honor guard display.
The National Palace Museum boasts the world's largest and most impressive collection of Chinese art and artifacts, dating back more than 7,000 years. The full collection comprises over 650,000 items, including calligraphy, paintings, jade, bronze, silk and curio pieces.
The Renaissance-style Presidential Office Building dates from the Japanese colonization period and has been used as the presidential mansion since the foundation of the Republic of China.
Resting on the slopes of the Qing Mountain and overseeing the Keelung River, the grand and magnificent Martyrs' Shrine symbolizes the brave spirit of the 330,000 men who sacrificed their lives to the revolution as well as those who fell during the Sino-Japanese War and the Chinese Civil War. The military police officers who guard the main gate have been rigidly trained to stand like expressionless statues and remain unmoved.

Taipei Night Tour ( Taipei )

Enter the dragon in the lovingly restored Longshan Temple, live the ultimate Taipei experience with a visit to the Huaxi Street Night Market and cap it all off with a visit to the imposing Taipei 101, which was the world’s tallest building until 2010. We get the evening started with a meal at the famous “Din Tai Fung Restaurant” where an authentic Asian treat awaits before we set off into Tapei at night.

Longshan Temple is where Guanshiyin Budda and other divine spirits are worshiped, and is famed for the dragon poles that adorn its serene halls. The doors, beams, and poles are beautifully decorated. There are also exquisite wood sculptures and many Chinese poems, verses and lyrics on signs. Longshan is also more than a temple: there are traditional streets, antique shops and Chinese medicine apothecaries surrounding the temple.

Popularly known as Snake Alley, the legendary Huaxi Street Night Market is located close to the Temple and is famed for the wide variety of goods sold there. Traditional Chinese lamps light the street, creating an unmistakable oriental glow. There are rustic eateries lining the street that serve great local dishes. In the summer, chopped ice plates and fresh juice are in great demand. In the winter, dishes with Chinese medicine are a huge draw.

The 101-story Taipei 101 was the tallest building in the world from 2004 to 2010. It is home to a mass of shops on the lower floors, incorporating many top brands. It also has a highest-roofed coffee house in the city and many fine restaurants.
